Following the successful release of all abducted pupils, teachers, and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Niger State, the government and people of the state have continued to express gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his intervention.

The victims were kidnapped on November 21, 2025, from their boarding facility in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. After weeks of anxiety and tension, the final batch of 130 captives was released a few days ago, bringing the traumatic episode to a joyful conclusion as families were reunited with their loved ones.

In a statement of appreciation, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, praised President Tinubu for what he described as firm and decisive leadership. He noted that while about 50 pupils escaped on their own earlier and 100 others were released on December 7, sustained pressure from the Federal Government ensured the safe release of everyone abducted.

The Minister described the ordeal as deeply personal, given Papiri’s historical ties to the Borgu Kingdom. He also commended the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for effective coordination, as well as Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for mobilizing critical support throughout the rescue efforts.

According to him, the successful operation reflects the President’s strong commitment to protecting Nigerians wherever they are and sends a clear warning to criminal elements across the country.
