UK-Based Media Delegation Visits Operation Hadin Kai, Commends Counter-Terrorism Efforts

A United Kingdom–based media delegation from Channel 4 News has visited the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, in Maiduguri, Borno State, to assess ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region.

The delegation, led by Senior Producer and Team Leader Mr. Freddie Gower, stated that the visit was aimed at showcasing to the international community the significant successes recorded by the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.

Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Gower explained that Channel 4 News, headquartered in London, focuses on major global issues, including terrorism and asymmetric warfare, and reaches a broad international audience. He noted that interactions with military commanders and local communities would provide first-hand insights into the operational achievements, challenges, and overall progress of Operation Hadin Kai. He described the briefings received as comprehensive and commended the Theatre Commander for the warm reception extended to his team.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, reaffirmed the command’s mandate to restore normalcy across the North East to enable socio-economic activities to thrive. He noted that the visit reflects growing international interest in Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts and assured the delegation of the Task Force’s full cooperation, emphasizing its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and responsible media engagement.

Major General Abubakar further disclosed that Operation Hadin Kai has prioritized the protection of vulnerable communities through robust non-kinetic operations, facilitating the return of thousands of internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes.

The visit featured detailed operational briefings, the signing of the visitors’ register, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
