Tinubu Declares Low-Key Democracy Day Amid National Hardship, Senate President Speaks

President Bola Tinubu has directed that this year’s Democracy Day be observed in a low-key manner, in recognition of the economic and social burdens currently faced by many Nigerians.

The Senate President emphasized that the decision reflects empathy for citizens and the need for leaders to be more sensitive to the realities on the ground. Speaking at an interdenominational thanksgiving service marking Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democracy, leaders also called on those in positions of authority to use their power to address wrongdoing and alleviate the challenges confronting the nation.
