The APC Presidential Campaign Council has challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to explain the legal and fiscal basis of his proposed production subsidy for locally refined petrol.
In a statement by its spokesman, Dele Alake, the council questioned the proposal’s compatibility with the Petroleum Industry Act and demanded details on its projected cost, funding source and impact on pump prices.
The council said the Tinubu administration is instead focused on CNG and electric mass transit as alternatives for reducing transportation costs.
