NPF suspends enforcement of tinted glass permit following court order

TINTED

The Nigeria Police Force has suspended the resumption of enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy earlier scheduled to commence on January 2, 2026, following an interim court order restraining the exercise nationwide.

A statement by the Force disclosed that the interim order, issued on December 17, 2025, directed the police to halt enforcement of the permit policy pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit or until the order is set aside by the court.

In compliance with constitutional provisions and in respect for judicial authority, the Force has entered appearance in the matter, filed preliminary objections, and formally applied for the vacation of the order. The case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026, for further proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to the rule of law and public safety, assuring Nigerians that lawful, intelligence-driven strategies will continue to be deployed to protect lives and property, while further updates will be communicated as directed by the court.
