President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Romuald Wadagni, Benin Republic’s Minister of Finance, on his election as President following the April 12, 2026 polls. Wadagni won by an overwhelming majority.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the victory reflects the Beninese people’s trust in Wadagni’s vision and his distinguished record as Minister of Finance.
President Tinubu also commended the government and people of Benin Republic for their resilience, commitment to democracy, and for maintaining peace during the election.
He noted the long history of friendship, cultural ties, and cooperation between Nigeria and Benin, expressing eagerness to work with Wadagni’s administration to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance regional security, and promote economic prosperity within ECOWAS and the African Union.
