Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has proscribed the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across the state following the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ajagungbade Emir, in Ile-Ife.
Oyeyemi was reportedly shot dead on Sunday during a clash between suspected rival groups over control of a garage in the ancient city.
Following the incident, Governor Adeleke directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest all persons connected with the killing and ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.
The Governor also ordered the immediate vacation of all motor parks by warring factions and directed security agencies to restore normalcy and maintain law and order across motor parks in the state.
As part of measures to prevent further violence, the Governor announced the reintroduction of a Park Management System across Osun State, with an Executive Order expected to provide legal backing for the new arrangement.
