VP Shettima receives briefing on 81st UNGA priorities
Vice President Kashim Shettima has received a comprehensive briefing on Nigeria’s participation in the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim, briefed the Vice President on Nigeria’s key priorities and expectations ahead of the high-level gathering.
Nigeria’s participation is expected to focus on reforms at the United Nations, stronger representation for developing countries and strategic engagement with international partners. Nigeria will also renew its push for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Nigeria would build on its previous advocacy for comprehensive reforms of global institutions to make them more representative and responsive to the needs of developing countries.
