VP Shettima returns to Nigeria after UNGA 81

Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States.

During the visit, Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national statement at the General Debate, where Nigeria renewed its call for reform of the UN Security Council, including permanent African representation, fairer global financing, stronger climate support and deeper multilateral cooperation.

The Vice President also participated in high-level discussions on Africa’s mineral resources and education financing, highlighting the need for value addition, manufacturing, human capital development and increased investment in education. He also held engagements with the new leadership of the ECOWAS Commission and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed.
