The House of Representatives will convene an emergency sitting today to consider a request from the President seeking an extension of the implementation period for the capital component of the 2025 Appropriation Act.
The emergency sitting, which was confirmed by House spokesman Akin Rotimi, is a legislative intervention aimed at preventing disruptions to ongoing federal capital projects across the country.
It would be recalled that the Senate last Thursday approved an extension of the implementation of the capital component of the 2025 budget to September 30, 2026.
Despite being on annual recess, members of the House have been asked to accord the emergency sitting priority attendance to enable the House achieve concurrence with the Senate on the request from the Executive.
